I've heard @MyronGainesX mention a few times about credit cards and credit. If you are thinking of joining the military, or are in the reserves/guard, you can get the Amex Platnium Card annual fee waived if you are active duty. You have to have the line of credit before your active status starts. For reserve/guard member, this would be before you deploy.
